Rabbie Burns and the Pope died at the same time and they both arrived at the pearly gates at the same time.
Saint Peter was pissed and let Rabbie in and sent the Pope down to Old Nick.
In the morning Peter went to see Old Nick and said “look I made an arse of it yesterday and the big yin will go spare so could we swop?” Nick agreed and said he would let the Pope go at one o’clock and he should let Rabbie go at the same time.
Rabbie and the Pope meet at the halfway point, the Pope said to Rabbie ”where are you off to?” Rabbie said ”down to see Old Nick, where are yo off to”, the Pope said ”to see the Virgin Mary”,
Rabbie replied, ”you’re too late, shes just called Mary now”.
