Where's Teddy Now?

Remains

“The evening’s the best part of the day. You’ve done your day’s work. Now you can put your feet up and enjoy it.”

The quote comes from an adaptation of Kazuo Ishiguro’s novel, Remains of the Day. It’s just one example of a DVD worthy film that I don’t yet own. (I don’t buy just any DVD out there, after all.)

This image reminded me of the quote, and the movie, waking up early with Elliotte, the Sun streaming down on the counter top. A better title would have been “remains of the evening”, our having opened a fine bottle of Cab-Sauv from the Gehringer Brothers vineyard in BC. There was little left aside from these remnants.

Three summers ago, La Fille et moi ™ popped on down to the Okanagan (Valley, in central British Columbia for those from across one of the ponds). Among its many attractions, of course, is vineyards, and we spent a few days touring around and tasting. And buying.

On the way home, by way of the Crowsnest Pass, we stopped in at Oliver, near Osoyoos, and found the Gehringer Brothers Estate Winery. Shorter version; we squeezed a case into the original Element, 6 bottles each of Pinot Noir and Cabernet Merlot. My first ever bulk wine purchase.

Of those twelve bottles, there are three of the Cab-Sauv and four of the Pinot left. Not bad for three years.
